SUASL Soccer Game (fall season; semifinals)

won, me 2 goals, 1 assist

I pulled my left hamstring during the last game of the season (2024-11-24) and aggravated it again a week ago (2024-12-01). It was not fully healed, but I used a bandage that Oskar gave me almost two years ago (2023-02-05). It worked well, and I managed to avoid reinjuring it.

Because of that, I was able to join Martin at EOS Fitness after the match. While he swam, I enjoyed the SPA, alternating between the hot tub and the cooler pool. I completed three rotations.

Note

I played as a forward but was isolated up front until Max joined the game. Once he came on, I finally had someone to combine with. He ran down the left side and delivered a perfect pass right in front of the net, allowing me to easily score our first goal. Bryan added the second goal, though I am not sure who passed to him since he dribbled so much. The opponents played well, but we were simply more efficient. Just before halftime, when I was thinking that a 2:0 lead would be a great result, they scored after someone lost the ball while over-dribbling.

At halftime, I was frustrated and said, “Too much dribbling” and “It is not a shame to make an easy pass.” I am not sure if everyone understood, but Charlie and Max supported me.

The second half started with a bang. Trent delivered a great pass to me in the box—a medium-height ball that was difficult to control. However, I made an excellent first touch and scored on the volley to make it 3:1. Trent continued his great form, setting up Bryan with a perfect pass, leading to Bryan’s second goal into an empty net. Later, during a throw-in, I combined with Max through a series of passes before sending a long ball. It was intended for Trent, but Erick got there first, controlled it, and nailed a fantastic shot from about 22 meters out. It was a beautiful goal.

I subbed out after that to avoid straining my hamstring further. From the sidelines, I watched them concede a penalty goal and another one just before the final whistle. The match ended 5:3 for us, though I noticed the official score listed as 5:2, and I am not sure why.
